TUMO Educational Robotics Workshop by BOGATECH, Yerevan, Armenia

TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is a unique innovative place at the heart of Yerevan, Armenia, equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology and with intelligently well-designed educational programs where young people can learn and produce creative content and media applications.
The first TUMO educational robotics workshop started with collaboration between TUMO and BOGATECH. 60 students divided into two groups started an intensive introduction course to LEGO Mindstorms NXT during 10 days in sessions of 3 hours and finished the course with a collaborative robotics project. This project allowed the students to put into practice all the knowledge and concepts learnt during the course, was a good exercise to learn teamwork, and was presented publicly the last day to TUMO students, parents, Armenian press and TV. This presentation gave the students the opportunity to explain their work in public as part of the workshop’s educational goals.
The experience was very fascinating and not only the students learnt a lot having fun, but due to the intensive timetable, it was a great human experience for all of us. We hope to continue collaborating in the future and strengthen the links between TUMO and BOGATECH, to provide students of Yerevan and Barcelona a new field of creative thinking and a multicultural experience.

El primer taller de robòtica educativa TUMO va començar amb la col·laboració de TUMO i BOGATECH. 60 estudiants dividits en dos grups van començar un curs intensiu d'introducció a LEGO Mindstorms NXT durant 10 dies en sessions de 3 hores i van acabar el curs amb un projecte de robòtica col·laborativa. Aquest projecte va permetre als estudiants posar en pràctica tots els coneixements i conceptes apresos durant el curs, va ser un bon exercici per aprendre a treballar en equip, i es va presentar públicament l'últim dia als estudiants de TUMO, les mares i pares, i la premsa i TV armènies. Aquesta presentació va donar als estudiants l'oportunitat d'explicar el seu treball en públic com a part de l'objectiu pedagògic del taller.
L'experiència va ser fascinant i no tant sols els estudiants van aprendre molt divertint-se, sinó que donat l'horari intensiu, va ser una gran experiència humana per a tots nosaltres. Esperem poder continuar col·laborant en el futur i enfortir els lligams entre TUMO i BOGATECH, per proporcionar als estudiants de Yerevan i Barcelona un nou camp de pensament creatiu i una experiència multicultural.
